Located in north region of the township of Sevilla, Sevilla Residences consists of 3 apartments of which the 2 upper levels are intended for the client. The development will also consist of a ground floor coffee boutique serving its world renowned coffee. Sevilla is widely recognized and famous as one of the best Colombian coffee producers. It is also known as the “Coffee Capital of Colombia”
Inspired by its picturesque town balconies and locally grown products, this compact mixed-use building is situated on the northern cusp of the towns’ naturally forged valley with 360º views of its lush fertile mountains. The formal design strategy for this project is a series of stacked program that is slightly shifted towards the front and rear of the house creating multiple opportunities for light, shade to naturally occur. The resulting shifting interior programs provide multiple opportunities for windows, increasing cross breezes and views into the landscape from all spaces of the house.
Sustainably, one of the major driving forces for this concept is the 100% use of locally sourced materials and construction strategies. Falling under what is called “Hyper-localization” architecture, all the selected finishes, structural members, framing, furniture, etc. will be harvested from the client’s coffee farm which is located 20 minutes north of the town. This type of construction strategy not only reduces the budget for our client significantly but also creates a 2 mile carbon footprint radius, which in return is beneficial for its local environment.
