Proposal Info
Currently, there is no home for the NJ Boxing Hall of Fame nor any monument for the “Cinderella Man” James J. Braddock; a place where boxing enthusiasts or regular everyday visitors can take a look at the long boxing legacy that the State of New Jersey holds. What the James J. Braddock Museum proposes is for Hudson County to take the initiative to house not only the outstanding and famous New Jersey Boxers that have come out of our state, but to also honor the “80th Street North Bergen Park” with one of its own, James J. Braddock. The Museum/ Exhibit space would feature memorabilia from its different Jersey Boxers, as well reactive one of the park’s most iconic buildings, the old historic building located on the south side of the park. We believe that this would not only reactivate the building itself but give the park and North Bergen the identity of its history and accomplishments. Additionally similar to the Rocky Balboa statue in Philly and many countless other major cities; we also propose to commission a life-size statue of the boxer to be located at the car rotunda directly north of the building.
